DescriptionThe MJA searched PubMed to identify original papers and review articles from 1960 to 2018 as well as society guidelines and industry sources to formulate an evidence-based overview of the use of Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in clinical practice.
Learning Outcomes
- Be aware of data supporting the use of Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in a variety of patient groups, stratified according to their surgical risk using the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) score
- List and carefully consider several complex, often competing patient factors when deciding between a surgical Aortic Valve Replacement (sAVR) or TAVI
- Become aware of possible complications following a TAVI
