MJA Perspective: Concussion in Sport

Description

Sport-related concussion is a growing health concern in Australia. Its incidence and possible health ramifications have led to an increased focus on safe and appropriate diagnosis and management.

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Australian Medical Association (AMA) position statement, Concussion in Sport, and its dedicated online platform were launched in May 2016. Due to rapid research and guideline development progress, 'An update to the AIS & AMA position statement on concussion in sport' was published in an MJA Perspective in April 2018.
