Justin James

Justin James joined HIF two years ago, bringing with him a wealth of experience in senior executive positions in the insurance and finance sectors, most recently with private health insurer Bupa. 

Before moving into the private health insurance industry, he held several senior executive and leadership roles in the financial services sector, including at the National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank and ANZ Bank.  

On his arrival at HIF Justin set about renewing member confidence in the industry and improving the value HIF members receive from their cover. In less than two years under his leadership, HIF has achieved strong financial performance, and significant lifts in employee culture and member satisfaction. Justin has also established new industry partnerships, including St John Ambulance WA, Little Green Pharma and the AMA (WA), and is leading the charge in supporting studies into the health benefits of medicinal cannabis. 

Justin holds an eMBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Indigenous Partnerships from Charles Darwin University, and completed the Social Entrepreneurship Programme with INSEAD in Singapore. He is also a Board member of Allevia, an organisation which provides support to people with disabilities and their families.
