Dr David Hughes is Chief Medical Officer at the Australian Institute of Sport and Medical Director of the Australian Olympic Team for Tokyo 2020. He is the Lead for Australia's National Sporting Organisations' Chief Medical Officers’ network. His previous positions include President of the Australasian College of Sport & Exercise Physicians (ACSEP), Team Physician roles with Australian Opals Women’s Basketball, Canberra Raiders Rugby League, Brumbies Rugby, Australian Wallabies Rugby, London Wasps Rugby, Bath Rugby, Manchester City FC and Fulham FC. David has a special interest in matters of integrity in sport and ensuring that national sport policies and protocols prioritise athlete safety and well-being.
